In respect of the number of symbols. It was suggested by some member countries that the number of symbols be reduced to indicate only groups of symbols. A search of literature and standards in use indicated a need for the symbols listed and referred to in this Compendium. Expansion or limitation of the number of symbols could be considered with future revisions of the Compendium.
