A first rehabilitation was performed in 1993 with the milling of the existing facing to a depth of ~ 70 mm in the portion above the minimum water level. In particular, the cracks extending deeper than 70 mm were backfilled and the milled face was treated with bituminous emulsion (~ 0.65 kg/m’) as tack coat. A new layer of conglomerate was placed in horizontal lanes with the creation of a wedge shaped horizontal joint between old and new facing: a 2 mm sealing coat consisting of bituminous mastic stabilized with rubber was applied.
